General Assembly

The highest authority of the Chinese Chemical Society is the General Assembly (GA), which is held every four years. GA determines the major work guidelines and important decisions of the Chinese Chemical Society.

The duties of the GA include:

1. Formulating and amending the bylaws
2. Electing and removing the members of the Board of Supervision and the Board
3. Reviewing the report on the work and finance of the Board
4. Formulating and revising the standard of membership fee
5. Termination of the Chinese Chemical Society
6. Other major issues

Board of Supervision

The Board of Supervision is responsible to the GA. The term of the Board of Supervision is the same as that of the Board. The members of the Board of Supervision are elected or removed by GA. The people in charge of the CCS Leadership (President and Vice Presidents), the Board, the Standing Board, and the financial management shall not concurrently serve as the members of the Board of Supervision.

The duties of the Board of Supervision include:

1. Presence at the Board meetings and the Standing Board meetings, and addressing inquiries or suggestions
2. Supervising the conduct of the CCS Leadership, the members of the Board, and the Standing Board in performing their duties, and proposing removals for those who seriously violate the bylaws of the Chinese Chemical Society or the resolutions of the GA
3. Examining the report on the finance of the Chinese Chemical Society, Reporting to the GA on the work report and the proposals of the Board of Supervision
4. Decision on other matters that should be considered by the Board of Supervision

Board

The Board of the Chinese Chemical Society is the executive body of the GA. It leads the Chinese Chemical Society to carry out daily work while the GA is not in session. The Board is responsible to the GA. The Board has the same term as the GA and therefore the election of the members of the Board will be held during each GA. The Board meetings shall be held at least once a year, and in special cases, it can be convened by communications. There are currently 178 members of the Board.

The duties of the Board include:

1. Convening the GA and implementing the resolutions of the GA
2. Election and removal of the President & Vice Presidents (CCS Leadership), members of the Board, and appointment and dismissal of the Secretary General
3. Reporting work and financial status to the GA
4. Decision on the establishment, change and termination of the offices, divisions, committees, branches, representative offices and entities of the Chinese Chemical Society
5. Leading the offices, divisions, committees, branches, representative offices and entities of the Chinese Chemical Society to carry out their work
6. Developing the internal management system
7. Decision on the appointment of the Deputy Secretary General and the major principal people of the offices, divisions, committees, branches, representative offices and entities of the Chinese Chemical Society
8. Decision on other major issues, etc.

Standing Board

The Standing Board is responsible to the Board. The members of the Standing Board shall be elected by the Board by secret ballot. The number of the members of the Standing Board shall not exceed one third of the number of the members of the Board. The Standing Board meetings shall be held at least once every six months.

The duties of the Standing Board include:

1. Convening the GA and implementing the resolutions of the GA
2. Decision on the establishment, change and termination of the offices, divisions, committees, branches, representative offices and entities of the Chinese Chemical Society
3. Leading the offices, divisions, committees, branches, representative offices and entities of the Chinese Chemical Society to carry out their work
4. Developing the internal management system
5. Decision on the appointment of the Deputy Secretary General and the major principal people of the offices, divisions, committees, branches, representative offices and entities of the Chinese Chemical Society

All of the members above are volunteers composed of chemical scientists. Furthremore, CCS also has many Divisions and Committees, including disciplinary and working committees. These committees are also composed of volunteers.

The daily operation CCS is carried out by the Secretary-General and assisted by Deputy-Secretaries-General.
